There are 3 main stages of Chiropractic Care:
- Relief
- Corrective
- Wellness
Each stage of care involves a different purpose and process. Relief care is all about symptomatic relief, primarily reducing pain and discomfort, so we almost always begin there.
In the case of back or neck pain, a spinal adjustment is usually the first line of care. Our elite chiropractors are trained to provide quick and effective relief of pain.
If needed we also perform therapies to reduce inflammation and muscle spasms at this stage of care. For many patients, treatment will begin and end at stage 1.
Alas, sometimes problems are a bit more advanced or difficult to treat. In that case, we progress to corrective care. Corrective chiropractic care involves fixing whatever problem caused the condition in the first place, and with healing and rehabilitating injured tissues.
Corrective care is a bit more advanced and involved that relief care, and thus requires a diligent effort on the part of the patient. The doctor will be giving you specific instructions regarding activities and exercises, both to do and not to do, and it is very important that you follow these instructions to the letter.
It is also very important at this stage to not miss any appointments. Missing an appointment can lengthen the amount of time necessary for healing to take place, and in some instances may cause further harm.
Stage 3, Wellness care, is the third and final stage of Chiropractic Care. This stage begins once both the problems that caused the pain and the pain itself are gone, and involves periodic checkups to make sure things stay as they should be. This way we will hopefully be able to spot and prevent any future troubles before they actually occur.
